The battle between Apple and Adobe continues in the html5 vs. flash debate. The controversy is over Apple's decision to not allow flash apps on any of its iProducts. This has led to a choosing of teams in the corporate kickball game. Google is backing apple and html5, Microsoft and Android are going with Adobe and flash.
In Steve Job's letter concerning Apple's decision to veer away from Flash he stated several reason's for the divergence. A large part of the argument revolves around Flash, and Adobe, being a closed platform. He stated that it is in the webs best interest to keep the web primarily an open platform. Open platform means that every can use it, not just the people that cough up the dough to buy Adobe's software at a ridiculously inflated price.
That kicks off the first debate. Many appeal to this statement with stating that Apple is the pot calling the kettle black because they are one of the largest closed platform companies going and have the government intervention to prove it. They have been criticized nearly since their beginning days for being tough to program for due to their protections and securities. Could this have been foresight from Steve Jobs considering that Mac products remain virus free and PC users continue to tiptoe around the internet in fear of such maladies.
Job's letter concluded by stating that flash just doesn't work with their stuff. This is quite true as many of the iProducts use touch screens and that isn't supported by flash. It has been my experience that Flash is taxing on all systems, not just Apple products.
On a personal note I feel this changing of the web guard is inevitable. Such is the way with technologies, they all have their day and they all become obsolete, eventually. While I fully agree that Adobe has been self serving with regards to being a closed platform, I am not so naive to believe that this isn't the case with any other corporations. They are all driven by the almighty dollar that we consumers continue to shell out for whatever they come up with.

first post
Well, this being my second time around due to unforeseen circumstances during the first I look forward to redeeming myself and removing the grade blemish from my transcript :) In addition to this I am looking forward to several other things as well, such as;
1) I want to better understand how CSS works along side the code.
I have worked with both html and css minimally and I want to gain better (if not full) understanding of how these compliment each other.
2) I want to gain understanding of how to incorporate animation skills with website creation.
and...
3) I want to learn about SEO so that sites I create will show up in the first page of search engines.
I also look forward to learning how to create cool sites such as:
